I am familiar with a variety of network protocols used for network monitoring. These include Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP), Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), Secure Shell (SSH), and Transmission Control Protocol (TCP).
For example, SNMP is a protocol used for managing and monitoring network devices such as routers, switches, and other networked devices. It allows for the retrieval of information about the device, such as its current status, as well as providing a way to manage the device's settings.
ICMP is used for testing network connections and to report errors. It can be used to test the reachability of a networked device, as well as to report back errors encountered while attempting to communicate with the device.
HTTP is used for communication between web browsers and web servers. It can be used to monitor the availability and performance of web-based applications.
SSH is used for secure remote access and remote command execution. It can be used for ongoing monitoring of remote devices, as well as for troubleshooting and maintenance.
Finally, TCP is a transport protocol used for reliable communication between two devices. It is used to monitor the quality of the network connection between two devices, as well as to detect any possible network issues.
