The first step in using emotional intelligence to proactively address potential issues is to identify the emotions and feelings of the people involved. This can be done through observing body language, facial expressions, and listening carefully to the tone of voice of the people involved. Once I have identified the emotions, I can then begin to assess the situation and determine what the underlying issues are that need to be addressed.
To further address potential issues, I use my knowledge of the individual's personality traits and preferences to help me understand how best to approach the situation. For example, if I am dealing with an individual who is more introverted, then I would use a more indirect approach to address the issue, rather than a direct one.
Additionally, I strive to be aware of the impact of my own emotions on the situation. By recognizing my own feelings, I am better able to stay in control of the situation and avoid becoming overwhelmed or overwhelmed by the emotions of the others involved.
