When it comes to cloud-related vendor management, I approach it in a few key steps.
First, I ensure I have a full understanding of the cloud services that the vendor is offering and how they fit into the organization’s current and future needs. I take the time to evaluate the vendor’s track record and its ability to meet the organization’s performance requirements.
Next, I establish a clear and concise statement of work that outlines the project scope, timeline, and expectations. I also make sure that all contractual obligations are clearly outlined and agreed upon.
Finally, I ensure that all of the necessary communication channels are in place to ensure a successful and transparent relationship. This includes regular meetings, communication protocols, and escalation processes to ensure expectations are met and any issues that arise are addressed.
To illustrate, I recently managed a project where a cloud vendor was providing a server hosting solution for our organization. I worked with the vendor to define the requirements and timeline for the project, which included a detailed statement of work.
