Interview Question:

Can you describe your experience with administering and interpreting standardized psychological assessments?

Candidate's Answer:

Yes, umm, while I have not yet worked for Marie as a psychometrist and my direct assessment experience is limited, but during my masters degree and through guidance from my supervisor I was introduced to school based assessment.Like wax? Sorry, wait, Waxler Basque. So while I haven't yet administered a full standardized test, but I bring strong related skills like rapport building.Observing and documenting behavior, response, the student attention, effort, verbal abilities, anxieties, their problem solving approach and also by applying the assessment recommendation into practice into the IEP.

Evaluation:

Your answer reflects a thoughtful approach, but it could benefit from more clarity and specificity. Here’s an evaluation of your response:

1. Structure and Clarity (2/5): Your answer lacks a clear structure, making it somewhat difficult to follow. It jumps between concepts without smooth transitions. For example, mentioning "Waxler Basque" appears disjointed and may confuse the interviewer since it lacks context.

2. Experience and Knowledge (3/5): You acknowledged your limited direct experience, which is honest. However, you should expand on relevant experiences gained during your master's program. Instead of merely stating you have not conducted a full assessment, you could highlight specific skills you learned or particular assessments you studied (e.g., specific standardized tests).

3. Skills Application (4/5): You effectively mentioned skills such as rapport building, observation, and documentation, which are crucial in the role of a psychometrist. Emphasizing how you apply these skills in practical settings, such as in developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), strengthens your response.

4. Language and Professionalism (2/5): The use of filler words like "umm" and phrases like "sorry, wait" detracts from the professionalism of your response. Aim for a smoother delivery.

Improvement Suggestions:
- Organize your response by clearly stating your experience, relevant skills, and how you've applied them.
- Provide examples or scenarios that showcase your abilities in a more specific manner.
- Practice smoother articulation to avoid fillers and maintain a confident tone.

Overall, I would rate your answer a 3/5. With more structure and specificity, along with a polished delivery, you can significantly enhance your response.

Interview Question:

What strategies have you used to provide behavioral consultations in a school setting?

Candidate's Answer:

Behavioral consultation is when I.I work collaboratively with the teacher, with the student and with the parents to come up with the reason behind the behavior and to come up with strategies to support the student. So, for example.Once I had a student who always left the class whenever he feels frustrated. So I had to help the teacher track the triggers of the behavior. I told the student. The coping strategies like he had his calm down corner, he has the 10 minutes break card so he showed the card whenever he feels uncomfortable. He left the Class A bit with assistant of course and then he came back. I told him breathing exercises and also.I provided the parents with strategies for the consistency of the support and over a period of time the student was able to use the coping strategies and the teacher felt confident managing his behavior.

Evaluation:

Your answer effectively addresses the question about strategies used in behavioral consultations in a school setting. You demonstrate a clear understanding of collaboration, which is crucial in this context. By detailing your approach using a specific example, you illustrate your methods and how they lead to positive outcomes for the student, the teacher, and the parents. This provides a practical dimension to your discussion.

Here are a few points to consider for improvement:

1. Structure: Start with a brief explanation of the purpose of behavioral consultations before diving into the example. This sets the stage for your response.

2. Diversity in Strategies: While you provide a solid example, mentioning a few other strategies used in different contexts (e.g., data collection, social skills training, or interventions for different behaviors) would demonstrate versatility.

3. Outcomes: You mention that the strategies were successful, but including specific measurable outcomes (e.g., reduction in incidents of leaving the classroom) could strengthen your answer.

4. Collaboration Emphasis: Reiterate the importance of collaboration among all parties (teachers, parents, the student) in fostering a supportive environment, making it clear that it’s a team effort.

Considering these factors, I would rate your answer a 4/5. It’s well-structured and relevant, but enhancing clarity and depth regarding the range of strategies and measurable outcomes could make it even stronger.
