Position Title: SOC Analyst (Cybersecurity Analyst I) Location: Rockville, MD Position Status: Contract Pay Rate: Competitive (Based on Experience) Position Description: We are seeking a motivated and security-focused Tier 1 SOC Analyst to join a fast-paced Cybersecurity Operations Center (SOC) environment.

This role is ideal for professionals who are eager to grow their cybersecurity career while working with enterprise-level security systems and real-world threat scenarios.

As a Tier 1 Analyst, you will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security events using industry-leading tools such as SIEM platforms, firewalls, endpoint protection systems, and intrusion detection technologies.

You will serve as the first line of defense in identifying threats and escalating issues to senior analysts while documenting incidents and following security best practices.

This is a first-shift role (5:00 AM – 3:00 PM) at a modern operations facility in Rockville, MD.

Required Skills / Education: 1–3 years of experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC) or incident response environment OR recent graduate with cybersecurity certifications Hands-on experience with a SIEM tool (Splunk preferred) Familiarity with: Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Endpoint Security tools, NAC Windows and Linux/UNIX environments Basic knowledge of networking protocols and services: HTTP, FTP, SSH, SMB, LDAP Experience with: Log analysis Alert triage and incident documentation Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work early morning shift consistently Preferred Qualifications: One or more industry certifications: CEH, CISSP, GCIH, GCIA, GPEN, GCFE, or equivalent Experience using packet analysis tools such as: Wireshark, tcpdump Understanding of cyber threat detection, malware behavior, and security event correlation Familiarity with compliance or regulated environments About Seneca Resources At Seneca Resources, we are more than just a staffing and consulting firm, we are a trusted career partner.
