Description Job Description The Medical Clinical Associate, through the performance of a variety of technical and routine tasks, contributes to patient care in an ambulatory setting, under the direction and supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse and within the policies of the Department of Nursing and The Mount Sinai Health System.

Responsibilities Assists in patient care by performing the following: Obtains and records vital signs.

Collects and processes blood, urine, sputum and stool specimens.

Reports changes in patient parameters or unusual values to the Registered Professional Nurse or physician.

Provides assistance with procedures such as stocking exam rooms with appropriate supplies.

Assists in the collection of screening data, i.e., personal data, chief complaints, past, present, family and social history.

Collects specimens for selected tests that assist with diagnosis treatment: urine pregnancy tests, throat cultures, and hemocult.

Participates with follow-up of abnormal lab data as directed by the Registered Professional Nurse or physician.
