Description
Job title: Junior Database Administrator Location: Long Island City NY 11101 Rate: $35/hour on W2 Type: Contract - Onsite Must: In-person Interview.
Position Overview: Client is seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, and optimize its database systems.
The DBA will play a critical role in supporting business operations and data-driven initiatives by ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of databases.
This position is part of a larger Data Modernization Initiative (DMI) aimed at transforming siloed public health data systems into connected and sustainable infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities: Install, configure, and upgrade database software (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
Monitor and optimize database performance through indexing, schema design, and query optimization.
Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies; perform regular recovery tests.
Enforce database security including user access, encryption, and auditing controls.
