The Infrastructure Architect is responsible for ensuring that systems, infrastructure patterns principles, frameworks, and standards—particularly those related to database platforms, middleware technologies, application servers, and message brokers—are designed and implemented to support Scotiabank’s evolving business requirements across on-premise and cloud environments.

This role is a key part of the Global Technology Enterprise Platform (GTEP) Architecture team in Canada, working closely with Enterprise Architecture to drive strategic alignment and technical excellence.

Role The candidate will work in a collaborative environment within GTEP Architecture and Enterprise Architecture, contributing to the efficient and effective operation of infrastructure architecture initiatives—particularly those involving database platforms, middleware technologies, application servers, and message brokers across on-premise and cloud environments.

The role requires ensuring compliance with daily business controls and enterprise obligations aimed at reducing: Operational risk Regulatory noncompliance Money laundering and terrorism financing risks Conduct risk Is this role right for you? Lead architecture discussions with Scotiabank’s application solution architects and security teams to define infrastructure strategies, with a strong focus on: Database platforms (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) Middleware technologies (e.g., WebSphere, Kafka, MQ, API gateways) Application servers (e.g., WebLogic, JBoss, Tomcat) Message brokers (e.g., IBM MQ, Kafka, RabbitMQ) Participate in Architecture Review Boards (ARBs) to review, recommend, and propose infrastructure solutions, particularly those involving database, middleware, application servers, and message broker components.

Develop and maintain technical documentation, technology standards, and infrastructure designs for the above platforms.

Collaborate with GTEP teams to ensure alignment with security and architectural standards across both on-premise and cloud deployments.

Identify and analyze infrastructure architecture gaps in database, middleware, application server, and message broker domains.
